Timetable and scheduling mysteries

What can happen when every timing rule must hold?

Players put events into a workable order and use the timing information on the page. The useful skill is checking how one scheduling decision affects the remaining choices.

A good choice for your group

Choose this when the group enjoys putting events in order, comparing times and spotting a clash in a plan.

The players’ job

Keep event names, times and badge labels together. Test the printed before, after and availability rules before accepting a schedule.

How the reasoning works

  1. Mark fixed information

Start with the times or positions the sheet gives directly. Separate those facts from placements the team is still trying.

  2. Fit the remaining events

Use one rule at a time and check its effect on the rest of the schedule. Cross out impossible placements rather than erasing the rule.

  3. Read the requested result

Once the schedule meets all the constraints, follow the page’s extraction instruction. Check whether it asks for an event, position, time or code.

If the result does not fit

A schedule can look orderly while breaking one small condition. Read every constraint again against the finished arrangement.

For the host: Ask “Which part is fixed, and which part are we trying?” Give the group room to revise a tentative placement.

Lantern Stage Rehearsal

Welcome to the lantern theatre. Stage cards contain both immediate handoffs and longer before-and-after relationships. Your team has the original records on the table. First recover five pieces of information, then use the final plan to reconstruct the lantern rehearsal. Keep every result beside its badge so another teammate can check your reasoning.

Read every clue below, including the final instructions. Answers and host hints stay in the host materials.

Clue 1 of 6

Order

Arrange the four event cards using every witness note. "Immediately before" means there is no event between them. Report the requested position after the whole order has been checked.

Window

The team needs time for both the job and the journey. It cannot start before the earliest time, leave a window unfinished, or arrive after the deadline. Which departure window works? Times are minutes after opening.

Signal

Recover the complete desk-signal legend from the training cards. Compare which signals and words appear together across the cards; word order on a card is not a clue. Decode the received message in order. The desk uses this message when handling the stage rehearsal.

Record

Follow the checked cue through the stage book to its signed notice. A draft notice can share the same bay, so both the joins and the copy status matter.
