Keep Track of Clues That Depend on Earlier Results

Save each result with its badge and use the printed prerequisites to decide what can be solved next.

What you’ll have: A recoverable clue record that supports the final decision.

Use the badge as the label

A bare digit is easy to mix up. Write each completed result beside its exact badge name. Copy letters, repeated characters and leading zeroes as printed or solved. Keep tentative workings separate from the final recorded result.

  • Badge name: __________________
  • Agreed result: __________________
  • Reason or source on the page: __________________
  • Checked by: __________________
  • If uncertain, mark it with a question mark and revisit it

Read “Start after” before changing clues

The previews and player page show when a clue needs an earlier result. Work on an available clue and keep its prerequisite results beside it. The last sheet tells the group how to use its earlier evidence; it may ask for a comparison, route, schedule or relationship check rather than the order the clues were solved.

Recover when a final answer fails

First compare badge labels and copied results with the working sheets. Then reread the final instruction, including its direction, units and answer format. If those match, revisit the earliest result the group could not explain. Changing several results at once makes it harder to find the mistake.

  • Check for a missing badge or a result written in the wrong row
  • Preserve leading zeroes and repeated characters
  • Read the final extraction rule again
  • Recheck one uncertain clue at a time
  • Keep the old working visible until the corrected result is agreed

Pause without losing the investigation

Keep the clue pages, badge record and current workings in one pile for each team. Circle the clue to return to next. On screen, keep the same game and team selected when resuming saved progress. Use Start again only when you intend to begin a fresh attempt.
